Here at Home Sewn by Stacy we specialize in patchwork baby, toddler and crib quilts. We also create security blankets, pet blankets, twin, full/double, and queen sized quilts. In addition, we have plans to offer other products in the future, such as T-shirt quilts and memory quilts made from your clothing items such as Grandpa’s favorite flannel shirt or that t-shirt you got during spring break in college. About Us Home Sewn by Stacy is a family-run business. We are a homeschooling family that includes our almost 1 year old daughter Ginny, our 9 year old son Justin, my husband Tim, and me (Stacy). You know you love your work when it doesn’t feel like work. I truly enjoy designing and creating my quilts and look forward to working with you to make the perfect quilt! (More below….)

About our Quilts Here at Home Sewn by Stacy, we believe quilts are meant to be seen and used on a daily basis. As such, we use high quality, durable materials in the construction of our quilts. From cotton and cotton/poly blend fabrics and batting to 100% cotton quilting thread, our products are made to withstand the rigors of daily living. Our quilts and other items are made to be put through a typical washer and dryer found in any residential home. (see Caring for your Quilt below.)
QUILT TOPS can include multiple fabrics in a planned patchwork design or completely random patches, a variety of shapes (crazy quilt) and/or strips. Sashes can be used to break up the patchwork squares. This will be a truly one-of-a-kind quilt, so make it as unique as you wish! QUILTING of your quilt can be done by machine, by hand, or we can also hand-tie your quilt. Please note: Hand and machine quilting takes more time and effort, therefore the price for a quilt that is hand or freehand machine quilted will be higher than a hand-tied quilt. BATTING in your quilt will be either 100% cotton or an 80% cotton/20% poly blend, unless otherwise specified. *Please note that we highly recommend the 100% cotton batting as it is far more durable. BACKING (the back of your quilt) of your quilt will be a single, solid colored fabric unless other arrangements are made. Alternative options could include patchwork, fabric strips, or any number of combinations for the backing. BORDERS are the ‘picture frame’ around the outside of the main portion of the quilt top. This is not to be confused with the edging or binding. EDGING/BINDING (the border around the outside of your quilt) of your quilt will be machine hemmed or turned and topstitched. FABRICS used are typically 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend. All fabrics are pre-washed and dried prior to being cut and sewn. There are all kinds of fabrics to choose from such as designer fabrics (Debbie Mumm, for example), batiks, flannel, novelty prints (such as food, landscape, horses, skulls, sailboats, baseball, paw prints or cats), calico fabrics, quilting solids and prints.
Caring for your Quilt Here at Home Sewn by Stacy we believe that quilts are meant to be used, not stuffed in a closet somewhere. That being said, we have a few tips for caring for your quilt...
If your quilt needs washing, use cold water with a mild liquid laundry detergent and machine wash it on the gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Wet quilts are heavy; support them well when moving to a flat surface to air-dry or you can put them in the dryer on delicate or low heat. Dry cleaning is generally not recommended as it leaves chemicals in the quilt and the agitation is harmful to them. (More below….) |

A Few Notes… · Home Sewn by Stacy products are made in our non-smoking home. Our family includes a miniature schnauzer (considered hypoallergenic because it has hair and not fur), 2 gerbils, 2 kids and a husband. · Ordering isn’t difficult. Simply e-mail us with your ideas for color schemes (reds, whites and blues, for example); theme for the quilt, such as barn animals or girly colors and fairies; size of quilt you’re looking for, even what the quilt will be used for (going to the beach or for your bed or for a brand new, on-the-way baby). · The purpose of the quilt is important to make sure we work together to pick fabrics that will best suit your needs. Looking for a quilt for your toddler grandson? We can do that...simply let us know what his favorite things are (trucks, trains, dinosaurs, cars, animals, etc) and we can work together to make the PERFECT quilt for him! · Having a custom designed and created quilt is very special and we treat our customers with respect while doing our best to work with you to make sure your quilt is going to be exactly what you want. There’s not such thing as a dumb question or asking too many questions. Ask away! We’re happy to assist you! · We DO offer payment plans. Please e-mail with your order and we can go from there. · You may have noticed that we have ‘starting prices’ for our products. We do this because prices on our quilts depend not only on the fabrics we use, but the threads, batting, whether there is hand quilting or hand-tying involved, the size and type of quilt (crazy or patchwork or checkerboard, etc), any special requests such as hand embroidering a child’s name and birth date on their new quilt or cutting squares of Grandma’s favorite housecoat and Great-Aunt Jane’s favorite t-shirts to add to your special quilt. · We’ll be glad to work with your fabric (you purchase your own fabric, mail it to us, and we use it in the construction of your quilt). · We will NOT add embellishments to your quilts that an infant, baby, child or pet could remove and/or choke on. The safety of all users of our products is of utmost importance to us. |
