100 Good Wishes Quilt

It is an old Chinese custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for a new baby.  This custom has evolved in the United States to include other important events such as marriage, college graduation, a labor and birth blanket, even for care/get-well blankets.  The quilt is said to contain the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a patch of fabric.  These quilts are considered an heirloom and are to be passed down from generation to generation.  Sizes vary depending on the number and size of the fabric blocks.  10 blocks by 10 blocks is a typical design, with coordinating border and backing.

Design can include 100 blocks with sashing, 25 4-patch blocks, more or less blocks, or half on the front of the quilt and the other half on the back of the quilt.  The possibilities are endless!

Pet throws can be made to best suit your pets size and how you plan to use it..  For instance, a small dog only needs a smaller bed, whereas a Labrador Retriever would need a bed/throw that’s quite larger.  Need a heavy duty throw for the truck?  No problem!  Let us know if you have a special purpose (or just for at home!) for the throw and we’ll construct it accordingly.

Family Quilt.  This is a queen sized quilt that has hand embroidered items that are important to our family such as our wedding anniversary, kids birth dates, etc.

It is twin sized and as an infant she has used it for floor/play/tummy time.  Now that she’s walking we use it to cuddle her in before falling asleep.

This is our son’s quilt (to the left and below).

It is twin sized and features aliens, monsters and even his old Jack Skellington T-shirts.  Justin is a big monster, aliens, and Jack Skellington fan.  Combining his loves, we created this quilt for him.  He absolutely LOVES this quilt and uses it every night!

 

These are photos of a pet throw.  This is just one way a pet throw/quilt/blanket can be designed and constructed for your well-loved pet.  Called ‘Fashion Stripes,’ this throw measures 19.5” by 33.5” in size.  Single layer of 80/20 cotton/poly batting along with a double layer of poly batting will help ensure your pet is comfortable whether in the car, on the deck, or next to your easy chair.  The edges are turned and topstitched.  This throw is hand tied.
